Movie Review- Smurfs: The Lost Village

This past Saturday we attended an advanced screening of Smurfs: The Lost Village.

Smurfs is one of the TV shows that I loved to watch when I was little. That being said, I’m always excited to see a new Smurfs movie and this one was no exception.

Smurfs: The Lost Village is a fully animated movie that centers on Smurfette. As the only girl Smurf in the village, Smurfette wonders who she is and what her talents are. She’s determined to figure out what exactly an ette is.

Throughout the movie we get to watch as Smurfette, Brainy, Clumsy, and Hefty go on an exciting and dangerous journey through the Forbidden Forest to find the lost village. Along with the new dangers they discover in the Forbidden Forest, they also have to race against Gargamel to ensure that he doesn’t get to the lost village first.

Smurfs: The Lost Village was fun to watch. One of the things that I loved most about it was the animation. I especially loved the animation in the Forbidden Forest. I thought it was beautifully done and all the creatures, plants, and scenery inside the Forbidden Forest were magical, colorful, and a wonder to look at.

Besides the great animation, the Smurfs delivered adventure and laughs. It is truly a great movie for the entire family.

**Connor Says:**

“I liked it; it was a good movie. The Forbidden Forest was cool. My favorite character is Clumsy. He’s clumsy, nice, and he would make a good friend, but I probably shouldn’t ask him to go get something. Everybody should go see the Smurfs movie because it’s cool and Gargamel is funny. I also like Gargamel. He is my second or third favorite.”

**JT Says:**

“It was good. My favorite character was also Clumsy. I also liked Gargamel’s cat because he was funny.”

Smurfs: The Lost Village comes out in theaters everywere on April 7th. Get prepared to watch it by making these Smurfberry Pies or learning how to draw Snappy Bug (he was my favorite).

Have fun and we hope you enjoy the movie as much as we did!

Minions Movie Review

We went to an advanced screening of Minions on Tuesday. The movie is basically a prequel to Despicable Me. We see where the Minions came from and follow along with Kevin, Stuart, and Bob as they attempt to find a boss for the tribe. They travel to Orlando to attend Villain-Con and meet Scarlett Overkill. She promises them they can all work for her as long as they steal the Queen’s crown for her.

So, did I like the movie? Yes, I did but I didn’t love it. I think that Despicable Me was a much better movie. The movie was cute at times and there were definitely some funny parts but there was also a lot of slap stick and I personally am just not a fan of slap stick comedy. What I did love was the ending. I thought the ending was really cute and I loved it. That was my favorite part.

The boys liked the movie but didn’t really have much to say about it.

JT Says:

“First off I liked it and second the funny part was the giant…the giant…the giant! Giant Kevin.”

Connor Says:

“I liked it. My favorite part was the beginning when they told us how the Minions had been around longer then humans. I forgot what the funniest part was. It was kind of funny when Kevin was a giant and the Minions speak a mixture of Spanish and other stuff.”

Minions comes out in theaters tomorrow, July 10th. Let us know what you think of it.

Tomorrowland Review

Tomorrowland officially comes out in theaters today but we went to the advanced screening a few days ago. The last time we went to an advanced screening Connor wanted to do a review of the movie so I asked him if he’d like to review this one and he said yes. Yesterday I recorded what he wanted to say and so I am going to type it up word for word here.

Connor Says:

“Today I’m going to do a review of Tomorrowland! First off, I liked it except I did not know there was going to be fighting. Also, the part that I liked about it was that all the machines in Tomorrowland and all the technology was epic. Also, the technology was epic like I said and one of the technologies was where they go up and it’s like a little flash of the future. It’s like what they’re going to do next on there, like maybe two seconds later…two seconds into the future. It’s cool because it shows you what you’re going to do. The girl she had a hat, this is one piece, and she saw what she was going to do and she lost the hat so she tried to catch it. That was one of them. This is the last part I’m going to tell you. When they got into Tomorrowland they had to go to France to get in the rocket and they blasted off out of Earth into outer space and then they went back in Earth but they went in a different dimension called Tomorrowland.”

So, that was Connor’s review. Now I’ll write just a little about what I thought.

I personally liked the movie. I thought it was really well done. I have to say that from the preview I’d seen I really wasn’t sure what it was going to be about but I got it as soon as the movie started and it has a really good message attached to it.

The beginning starts off at the 1964 World’s Fair and it starts off playing the song from the Carousel of Progress and so I was excited about the movie from the beginning. I thought it was really fun to watch. Also just a side note, not something Connor mentioned, but we enjoyed seeing all the items in the Blast from the Past shop scene.

Everyone that plans on going to see Tomorrowland let us know what you think of it once you watch it.
