Wildseed Farms is a working wildflower farm in Fredericksburg, Texas. I had passed by it a couple of times but had never been to it before. Then at the end of April we decided to visit after we went strawberry picking at Marburger Orchard (which you can read about here).
We started off looking at the seeds inside the store and then went outside to the fields. There were Bluebonnets, Daisies, and tons of Poppies as well as a few other flowers and a butterfly garden.
The Vegetable Garden
This is our state flower- Bluebonnets. The most common Bluebonnet that we see is the blue one but there also red and white ones. They had a field of all 3 but my picture is blurry.
Once we were done outside we went into the Brewbonnet Biergarten and the boys got some ice cream.
After that the boys picked out some seeds and we left. We really enjoyed our visit. There are so many flowers to look at and if you enjoy gardening they have tons of seeds as well as other items. Wildseed Farms is definitely worth a visit if you’re ever in Fredericksburg.
Today I wanted to share some pictures from a few weeks ago when we went to Marburger Orchard in Fredericksburg to pick some strawberries. We haven’t been to many pick your own farms but we really enjoy them. It is really a lot of fun to get your own fresh fruit and I’d like to go to more of them. While there were a lot of strawberries when we went I was sad because there were also a lot of berries that went bad because they hadn’t been picked in time.
Rows of Strawberries
The boys were following a white butterfly.
Here is the butterfly.
Here are their peach trees.
You might be able to see the little peaches growing in this picture.
Baby blackberries growing
These are our strawberries.
Marburger Orchard also has pick your own blackberries and peaches. I also saw that they have vegetables although I’m not sure which ones. They are always updating their website with what they have available so make sure to check it out if you are in the Texas hill country and would like to pick some fruit.
If you have any favorite orchards or farms in Texas let me know what they are. I would love to check them out.
