Breakfast at the Garden Grill

Garden Grill at Epcot is one of my favorite Disney World restaurants. I’ve written a post before about dinner there, which you can check out here. Last November they started offering breakfast as well so of course we had to try it out.

Garden Grill is located in The Land pavilion. I made reservations for before the park opened. I highly recommend doing this. It’s nice to walk through the park when it’s empty and you can stop and take a few pictures without all the crowds in the background. There were also cast members blowing bubbles as we walked so the boys had fun with that.

Here are the boys with my mom. This was her birthday breakfast.

Here's the menu: Chip's Sticky Bun Bake, Seasonal Fresh Fruit, Fluffy Scrambled Eggs, Thick-sliced Bacon and Ham Steaks, Hash Brown-style Potato Barrels, and Mickey-shaped Waffles

Once we were seated we were greeted right away by Chip and then Pluto.

After our visit with Pluto we started receiving our food. The first items that came out were Chip’s Sticy Bun Bake and the Seasonal Fresh Fruit.

The sticky bun bake was very good and the fruit was a pretty good mixture.

Next up was a platter with the potato barrels, bacon, ham, eggs, and Mickey waffles, all of which was very good.

The next character to visit was Dale followed by the much anticipated Mickey Mouse. The boys had been waiting for Mickey and were so excited when he arrived that they both ran up to hug him.

This was such a fun meal with delicious food. It’s served family style so it’s all you can eat. The restaurant also rotates so you see a change of scenery throughout your meal from the Living with the Land ride. JT enjoyed getting up and looking down at the ride every time the scene changed.

If you haven’t dined at the Garden Grill yet I highly recommend giving it a try. We loved both dinner and breakfast.

What’s your favorite Disney World restaurant?

T-Rex Cafe

There are two T-Rex Cafés; one at Disney World and one in Kansas City, Kansas. We’ve been to both of them in the past six months so I thought I’d do a comparison of the two.

For the Disney T-Rex I’m using our newest visit pictures as well as pictures from previous years.
We’ll start with the entrance.

The outsides are pretty similar so let’s move on to the inside. Connor thought that the Kansas City location was bigger and he might be right because it also has an upstairs dining area. The Disney T-Rex has a sea bar area, jungly main dining area, and the ice cave.

Moving on to the food. The menus are different. They have a few of the same things but overall the menus are completely different. The kids menus however are almost exactly the same. The big difference on the kid’s menu was that the boys wanted ICEEs and the Disney location told us we could only order ICEEs in the souvenir cup and the Kansas City location let us get ICEEs without buying cups.

Supersaurus Sampler- they have one at Kansas City but it's a little different. We really loved everything on here.

Dexter's Dual Dip- this another one that they had at the Disney location but again it is a little different. This one had Chili con Queso dip and Spinach and Pepper Jack Queso dip. Both were really good.

The boys got the Paint-A-Dino which was really cute. It is served on a plate shaped like an artist's palette. It comes with a dinosaur Rice Kristie Treat, a paintbrush, red and blue "paint", and some mini M&Ms.

Besides just eating there is a gift shop and a play area. Both locations have a Build-A-Dino. The boys both made dines during our first Disney visit. Connor made a superhero T-Rex named Roger Hager and JT made a Brachiosaurus named Walt. You can also purchase geodes and break them in a geode breaking machine. There is also a sluice and bags can be purchased containing different gems and rock to pan for. Last but not least there is a dig site. The big difference between the two locations is that the Kansas location charges to go in the play area so we did not do any of the activities there.

So that is my comparison of the two. They’re both fun to go to but I do think that the Kansas City location should not charge to go in their play area. The boys had a ton of fun at the Disney location this past trip. They especially loved the dig and panning for gems.

Who else has been to T-Rex Café and what are your favorite things about it?

Chip ‘n Dale’s Harvest Feast at the Garden Grill

Today I’m flashing back about 4 1/2 years ago to the boys’ first trip to Disney World. The very first place we went after checking into the hotel was Epcot and I had made a dinner reservation at Garden Grill.

Disney World 044_copy

Garden Grill is a rotating restaurant located inside The Land. If you aren’t familiar or haven’t been to Disney World, The Land is one of the pavilions in the Future World portion of Epcot. The restaurant rotates so that you can see different scenes from the Living with the Land attraction as you eat. Garden Grill is a character dining restaurant and features Chip ‘n Dale’s Harvest Feast. The meal here is served family style so they bring out platters for everyone to share. Here is the menu from when we went:

I wish this wasn't so blurry but here is what it says: Warm Bread with Maple Butter Harvest Inspired Farmer's Salad Char-grilled Beef Strip Loin with Herb Sea Salt Roasted All-Natural Turkey Breast with Cranberry-Orange Relish Sustainable Fish of the Day with a Florida Citrus Crumb Garden Fresh Vegetables, Smashed Potatoes and Turkey Dressing Apple-Current Crisp with Hand Whipped Vanilla Bean Cream Child's Platter Oven Roasted Chicken Drumstick, Baked Macaroni & Cheese, Broccoli, and Crispy Sweet Potato Sticks with Mickey "Mousse" Cookies & Cream

Apple-Current Crisp with Hand Whipped Vanilla Bean Cream
Child’s Platter
Oven Roasted Chicken Drumstick, Baked Macaroni & Cheese, Broccoli, and Crispy Sweet Potato Sticks with Mickey “Mousse” Cookies & Cream

Since this was a couple of years ago the menu has changed but it is still fairly similar. Bread, salad, beef, turkey, and fish are basically always on the menu with the main difference being how they are served. For example, currently the bread is served with an Orange Blossom Honey Butter which sounds delicious. The current Sustainable Fish of the Day is served with Tomato Jam and the dessert is always a seasonal skillet dessert.

All of the food was delicious.

Now on to the characters. Characters here are Chip, Dale, Farmer Mickey, and Pluto. This was the boys’ first interaction at Disney World with the characters and JT was especially excited. He loved them, particularly his favorite, Mickey Mouse. I have more pictures of JT here than I do Connor because JT was just so excited and Connor is more on the shy side.

First up is Chip.

I highly recommend eating at Garden Grill. It is one of my favorites and one of the best character dining restaurants in my opinion.

Who else has eaten here and what other restaurants are your favorites?
