Rawhide, Arizona

I’ve gotten super behind on these Flashback Friday posts but the last time I wrote one I promised a Rawhide post next so here we go.

Rawhide is a western town and steakhouse in Chandler, Arizona which is right by Phoenix. We went here back in March of 2010. I was just taking a look at the website and it seems that there are a couple of different things but you can see how it was when we went. I have a lot of blurry pictures so I’ll try to pick out the best.

This is over the entrance to Rawhide. I took it when we left so it was dark and there were these 2 bright lights right next to the sign so this didn't come out well but I figured I should use it anyways.

We’ll start off with a few views of the town and as with any good western town there was a general store.

The first thing we did was ride on the train and then ride on the stagecoach. Looking at the website I don’t think they have the train anymore and the stagecoach ride looks different.

Here are the horses that pulled the stagecoach. According to the website, the stagecoach is now pulled by mules.

We sat on the top in back of the stagecoach.

After that Connor rode on some of the little rides while JT watched. Then we went to go eat in the steakhouse.

Connor had one of his favorite foods- ribs. He also got a sheriff's badge. I don't remember what I ate; I'm sure it was steak. I do remember that it was good though.

They also had a band playing in the steakhouse.

Once we were finished with dinner Connor rode on a donkey and attempted to toast to marshmallows and rope hay bale cattle.

After that we left. We enjoyed it and had fun and I would go back again.

The Heard Museum & Graduation

Welcome to another Flashback Friday post! Today I have a fairly short post about The Heard Museum and my mom’s graduation in Phoenix. It will mostly just be pictures.

The morning of my mom’s graduation we started off with breakfast at the hotel. I don’t remember it now but Connor seemed to be enjoying it.

After that we went to The Heard Museum for a little bit before going to my mom’s graduation. I really loved The Heard Museum. The museum is all about Native American art and culture and they had a lot of hands on activities for kids.

After we were done going through the museum we stopped at the gift shop and then picked up some tacos to go from the café. I don’t remember what kind of tacos they were but I do remember that they were really good. I would love to go back to The Heard Museum again and have more time to look around.

Once we left it was time to head to the graduation at the Sheraton.

Outside there were some bug sculptures so we have pictures of those too. Connor took the first two pictures.

Desert Botanical Gardens- Phoenix, Arizona

Welcome back to Flashback Friday! If you read last week’s post you’ll know that back in March of 2010 we went on a trip for my mom’s graduation. I wrote about our first stop last Friday and today we’re moving on to Phoenix.

When we arrived in Phoenix we checked in to our hotel. We originally wanted to stay at the hotel that was the hotel for the graduation but it was full when I called to book so we ended up staying at the Hyatt Place.

Here's Connor, he was exited to check into the hotel.

I really liked the Hyatt Place. All the rooms are suites and the boys like that extra space to play. Once we were all setup at the hotel we went to the Desert Botanical Gardens. They are open until 8pm which is great because it enabled us to do something that day. On the other hand, it got dark and I had trouble taking pictures. I took several pictures of everything and used several different settings to try to get a good picture. I’ll start off with the pictures I took while I still had some daylight.

We really enjoyed the Desert Botanical Gardens. I wish I had better (or perhaps more) pictures to show. It’s very different from other botanical gardens we been to and really showcases the beauty of the desert. If we go back to Phoenix I would love to go again.
