Heading west on I-10 starting in New Mexico there are tons and tons of billboards advertising The Thing. “What is The Thing?” “You’ll be Amazed!” “The Mystery of the Desert!” “Aliens vs Dinosaurs” I’ve seen these billboards a lot have always been curious about it. So, I decided that we should go ahead and stop this time to check it out.
The Thing is a museum that is in a gas station/gift shop. When you walk into the gift shop you’ll need to turn left and head all the way to the end to find the museum.
As you enter the museum you’re greeted with this phrase:
You’ll also get an introduction about the museum and a peek at what the first section is all about- Aliens VS Dinosaurs.
Your tour through the museum will take you on a journey through history starting with the dinosaurs, but at the center of everything are 2 alien clans.
The museum is pretty well done with plenty to look at. There are a few dinosaur and alien displays along with vehicles and other items.
Once you get to the end of the museum, you’ll finally discover The Thing.
It took us about 20-30 minutes to go through the museum and the admission was $10 for 4 of us. If you are a fan of conspiracy theories and aliens, then you should definitely add this to your list of places to visit. Even if you aren’t, it still makes for an interesting road trip stop.
