For the first night of our Big Bend trip we stayed in a cabin at Mountain Trails Lodge in Fort Davis. Upon arriving we headed into the office to check in. We were given our key along with some extra towels.
The cabins here are not single occupancy cabins. They are actually divided with one guest room in the front and one in the back with separate porches and entrances. Each side has a designated parking spot and an opening in the porch railing to place luggage.
We stayed in a room with 2 full beds. There are also options for 1 queen bed.
On the opposite side of the beds there were 2 chairs along with a small dining table for 2.
There is a kitchenette with a mini fridge, microwave, coffee pot, and sink. There is also a good amount of cabinet space.
The bathroom reminded me of the bathroom on the Disney cruise we took because of how small it was. However, this one is even smaller. The bathroom only has a toilet and a shower. There isn’t a sink so you do need to use the one in the kitchenette. There’s a little mirror mounted on the cabinet above the sink.
Outside of the cabins, Mountain Trails Lodge provides a covered pavilion with a grill and some seating. There was also ice provided in the freezer.
This was our first experience staying in a cabin so we were excited about trying it out. Mountain Trails Lodge is a little different than other cabins I’ve seen though since it’s basically just a guest room rather than a full cabin. What we were most excited about was stargazing, but unfortunately it was too cloudy when we were there so we couldn’t see anything. We’ll definitely have to try out another cabin some time. I really want to see some stars!
