We recently stayed in a club level room at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge. Here is our experience with the Kilimanjaro Club.
We arrived at the resort and headed over to the check in desk. After checking us in, the cast member helping walked us across the lobby to the elevator while informing us about some of the African details of the resort.
We took the elevator up to the top floor where the Kilimanjaro Club is located. It overlooks the resort lobby.
Since this is a club level only floor, you do need to scan your MagicBand on the elevator to access it.
We were taken to the concierge desk where they gave us a welcome gift and schedule of the times food is served at the lounge.
Our room wasn’t ready yet when we arrived so we sat down at one of the tables and waited for awhile. The lounge has several food offerings throughout the day and the Vitafunio or Safari Snacks were put out shortly after we arrived.
There was an assortment of breads and dips (Berebere goat cheese, sun-dried tomato hummus, sag dahl ranch, and coriander chutney yogurt), crudité served alongside buttermilk ranch, coconut curry chicken stew, and butternut squash soup.
There were also a few sweets (cookies and nicely bagged jelly beans and gummy bears) along with a build your own safari snack station.
For beverages, they had a Jungle Juice, iced tea, lemonade, water, a Nespresso machine for coffee, a box with a selection of Twining’s tea, and a small fridge filled with sodas and milk.
I loved the coconut curry chicken stew! It was delicious and I had at least 2 servings, maybe more.
After waiting for awhile, the castmember working the concierge desk said that since we were having to wait so long they were going to upgrade our room to a one bedroom suite. The room was amazing and you can read all about it here.
It would still be awhile before our room was ready though so we took off to explore the resort. When we came back to the lounge, it was time for Chai or tea.
Since this is meant to be a tea time, only a small assortment of food was offered during this time. There were crisped rice treats, salted caramel brownies, and scones with cream.
The next time we came around to the lounge was during the Twilight Offerings or Kisikusiku.
There were a few offerings that were the same as during the Vistafunio. These items were the crudité and ranch, and the breads and sundried tomato hummus. Black olive hummus and coriander hummus were also served alongside the bread assortment, along with roasted eggplant, Kalamata olives, and green olives.
An assortment of cheese and accompaniments was served with Boerewors sausage. The cheeses were teahive, lamb chopper, and cambozola. The accompaniments were mustard, honeycomb, and a seasonal chutney.
Also found on the line were tabbouleh salad, watermelon, apples with caramel and peanut butter, mealie dogs, and peanut butter and jelly.
The highlight of the offerings was the chef serving up some seasonal soup and Bokaap Malay shrimp curry.
The last of the food offerings served at the Kilimanjaro Lounge is Rehema or Evening Indulgences.
This is a selection of desserts. The three items that were served during Chai were out along with apples with caramel and peanut butter, cake cones, oatmeal cookies, chocolate chip cookies, lemon bars, and a smores type of dessert that I don’t have a name for.
The next morning we went up to the lounge for Miamko or Adventurous Awakenings.
Breakfast offerings included banana bread, bagels, and croissants with strawberry jam, grape jelly, orange marmalade, butter, and cream cheese.
There was also cereal, an assortment of fruit, hardboiled eggs, Greek yogurt with granola and honey, oatmeal, turkey and cheese, turkey bobotie, and guava fans.
We loved our stay at the Animal Kingdom Lodge and enjoyed all the offerings from the Kilimajaro Club Lounge.
