Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort is probably Disney World’s most well known resort. (Or at least one of the most well know resorts.) This Deluxe resort is Victorian themed and absolutely beautiful.
We recently stayed in the Sugar Loaf building of the Grand Floridian. Sugar Loaf is the first building to your left once you leave the main building. It’s a club level only building so you need to scan your Magic Band to enter.
We had a standard room within Sugar Loaf. When you walk into the room there is a small entryway with a closet to one side and the bathroom to the other side.
The vanity area features a double sink and something I haven’t seen anywhere else- a laundry hamper. The toilet and shower/tub were separate from the vanity area.
Our room had 2 queen beds along with a sofa that transformed into a day bed. The two queen beds were on one side of the room along with a nightstand that reminded me of the wardrobe from Beauty and the Beast, and a table with a mirror and a smaller pull out table hidden underneath it. The table held a Keurig with accompanying K-Cups, an ice bucket, glasses, and coffee mugs.
The other side of the room had the sofa, a dresser with a TV, mini fridge, and DVD player, and a chair.
Our room also had a balcony with a small table and two chairs. We had a really nice view of the Courtyard Pool.
Here are a couple of things I really loved about the room:
I loved the high ceiling and the lights. The lights were so pretty!
I really liked the look of the headboard of the bed and the throw pillows. We even received turn down service so we had Ghirardelli chocolates waiting for us by our pillows at night.
I also loved the fact that we had a Mickey head towel on the bed when we arrived. I haven’t seen towel animals in a resort room in a long time so that was fun to see.
I was also impressed by the extra toiletries. We had the usual items but we also had Cooling Aloe Gel, Softening Mint Foot Rub, and Coppertone Sport Sunscreen. I was also pretty impressed by the fact that there was a laundry hamper. It’s such a useful thing to have in a hotel room but I don’t remember ever seeing one at another hotel.
I also love the bit of extra space that we had and the sofa. It’s always nice to have extra places to sit.
Overall, I loved the Grand Floridian. It’s easy to see why it is one of Walt Disney World’s deluxe resort.
