We started our day in Nassau as early as we could. It wasn’t as early as I was planning on because we went to bed super late the night before to watch the prem-ear of Captain Marvel on the Disney Dream.
Once we got through the entry, we headed to Parliament Square. We took a few pictures there before we made our way over to the Pirates of Nassau museum. I was surprised to find that the museum had so much information. There was a lot to learn about the pirates. I plan on doing a separate post on that so make sure to keep an eye out for it.
After the museum, we went to the Straw Market and then to a couple of shops for some souvenirs. We thought the Straw Market was a pretty fun experience. We enjoyed seeing some of the vendors working on carving their wooden items. Both boys ended up buying a hand carved item. They were also able to get their names carved into them as well. JT’s was a turtle and Connor’s was a sword.
Next up was snack time! We went on a mission to find conch fritters, guava duff, and coconut water in a coconut (without heading into an actual sit-down restaurant) before heading back to the ship. The conch fritters and coconut water I knew ahead of time that we had to try but I read about the guava duff on our Disney Cruise navigator. We found the conch fritters at a a little restaurant that only had a walk-up window. She also sold guava duff but it was sold out. We managed to find both the guava duff and the coconut water at what I think is called the Festival Place. Everything was really good but I think I was the only person that liked the coconut water. It was really refreshing and so much better than the ones sold at the grocery store.
If you’re going to be in port at Nassau, this is just one option of what you can do. There were so many other things that I would have loved to do also. So, here are a few more options for you: Ardastra Gardens, the forts (Fort Fincastle, Fort Charlotte, and Fort Montagu), Educulture Junkanoo Museum, Nettie’s Cultural Center, and Greycliff Chocolatier. Then there are also the beaches and bunch of other fun tours on both land and water. With so many options, it was hard to choose but I decided on the Pirates of Nassau because we had of kind of pirate theme going on for our vacation, plus it was Pirate Night on the cruise. We enjoyed our time there and I hope that we are able to head back one day to do everything else.
