We started our day by going to the Mark Teague book signing. This seems to be the first thing we do on most Saturdays of the CALF.
The Abilene Fire Department had a fire truck outside when we were done at the book signing so we decided to go check it out.
The bubble man was also outside and the boys stopped to play with the bubbles for a little bit.
Our next stop was the Kornpop balloon show. Every year there is a raffle done for a few big balloon creations and this year Connor won a frog hat.
Next up was the instrument petting zoo. The boys tried out some string and brass instruments.
After a break for lunch, we headed over to McKay’s Bakery so the boys could decorate dinosaur cookies. We also got an Ike the puppy cupcake. If you’re not familiar with Ike, he is from Dear Mrs. LaRue. I’m pretty sure that this was the boys’ favorite book for that year.
Our next stop was the petting zoo at Frontier Texas! The petting zoo is always a little different each year and this year the boys’ favorite animals were the guinea pigs. They loved them! They were so sad to have to leave them.
On our way to our last stop, we watched Professor QB’s magic show.
Our last stop of the day was going to check out the new sculpture. The sculpture was Good Night Dinosaur from How Do Dinosaurs Say Good Night? It was the first sculpture at a new location (the Abilene Convention Center) that is now the Adamson-Spalding Storybook Garden.
