Last June, we were driving through Amarillo and I accidentally took a wrong turn. We ended up driving right by an Embassy Suites that was just being built. We decided then that we were going to stay there when we came back in December.
The Embassy Suites is located in Downtown Amarillo. If you plan on staying here, you should know that the hotel doesn’t have its own parking. There is a parking garage next to the hotel but there are no in and out privileges. However, Embassy Suites does offer valet and I found this to be a good value at $12 a night.
We stayed in a two room premium suites. The two room suites have a separate living room and bedroom. We always enjoy the separate living areas when we can get them. The extra space is great and there is plenty of room for everyone. The boys also sometimes like to bring board games and this gives them the space they need to play.
Premium suites also come with complimentary in-suite refreshments. We were all starving when we arrived and we ate several of those snacks right away.
Luckily for us, since we were still hungry, the hotel also offers a complimentary evening reception. The snacks that were offered when we were there were fried green beans and jalapeno poppers along with cheese, a Chex mix type snack, pita chips, veggies, and hummus, ranch, and salsa for dipping. Alcoholic drinks are served at the bar and there is a self-serve area for non-alcoholic beverages.
In the morning, Embassy Suites also offers a complimentary breakfast. The breakfast includes made to order omelettes, yogurt, fruit, cereal, oatmeal, breads, muffins, bagels, and hot items like scrambled eggs, bacon, and sausage. There are a lot of times when I don’t get omelettes because they are too big but these omelettes seemed to be the perfect size.
We’ve covered the room and food but there were a few other things we liked about the hotel. The lobby area was open and spacious and there was plenty of seating options. The boys particularly liked the enclosed areas. The hotel also has a pool and fitness center which we did not get to use.
There were also a couple of decorative touches that we liked as well. There was one wall that was covered entirely with plants. I thought this was really cool upon taking a closer look I discovered that they were all individual plants. There was also a waterfall that we all liked and since it was Christmas they had a Christmas tree up.
We had a nice stay at the Embassy Suites and we would definitely stay here again.
Have you ever stayed at an Embassy Suites?
