Where Connor and JT Go California Afternoon Tea at the Disneyland Hotel: Beauty and the Beast Style

Afternoon Tea at the Disneyland Hotel: Beauty and the Beast Style

A few weekends ago we went to the Disneyland Hotel for afternoon tea at Steakhouse 55.

Inside Steakhouse 55. JT was being Stitch.

When we sat down at our table, the first thing I noticed was that there were red roses covered in glass domes as centerpieces on the tables. I loved these but our table was one of the few that didn’t have a rose so I was sad about that. It turned out that our waiter noticed the same thing and went to get us one.

Our teas came next. The boys have been to afternoon tea before at other places but have never ordered tea. They decided to try some this time around. They both picked the Mountain Berry tea.

I love the color of this tea.

I ordered the Organic Pear Tree tea which was very good.

A short while after we were brought our tea, we were also each brought a box of Twinings Beauty and the Beast tea to take home. This was a really cool surprise. Stephen Twinings was also in attendance and going around talking to each table. He left before he got to our table though.

Once our tower of tea sandwiches, scones, and desserts came out we were in for another surprise. The desserts were also Beauty and the Beast themed and were done beautifully.

This is the Kids Tea Party.
There were Mickey shaped chocolate chip scones in the top tier.
The middle teir held cucumber, ham and cheese, and Mickey shaped peanut butter and jelly tea sandwiches.
The bottom tier held the desserts. There was a Belle chocolate covered strawberry along with a Beast one. There were also macaroons and rose topped cupcakes.
The Classic Tea Party had the same bottom dessert teir but the top two tiers were different.
On the top tier there were chocolate chip and raspberry chocolate chip scones.
The middle tier held cucumber and watercress, salmon gravlax, deviled cage free egg salad, and heirloom tomato and mozzarella tea sandwiches.

I wasn’t sure how I was going to like the salmon gravlax or the egg salad but I loved everything. All of the tea sandwiches were delicious. The scones were good too and the desserts were very well done. I was actually full by the time I got around to dessert but I ate my strawberry and had a bite of everything else just to taste it.

The boys also enjoyed all of their food. They ate all of their tea sandwiches and JT asked me for my cucumber sandwich; I gave him half. They also ate their strawberries and a bite or so of the other desserts. We thought about taking our desserts to go but I didn’t really want to carry them around the park and I also didn’t feel like taking them back to our room so we made sure to at least taste everything.

Everything about afternoon tea here was fantastic. I also especially loved that the entire thing was Beauty and the Beast themed. That was something that I was not expecting so it was a really cool surprise. We were even given the rose to take with us when we left. JT put it in a cup of water when we got to our room later that evening and it lasted the entire week.

If you haven’t tried out afternoon tea here, I highly recommend it. Afternoon tea is only served Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from noon to 3 PM. Currently Easter Classic Tea is being served. It started this weekend and will be served through April 16th. Then in May, Mother’s Day Classic Tea will be served the first three weekends, starting May 5th and going through May 21st.

Who’s looking forward to some tea?
