Leonardo da Vinci Gets A Do-Over by Mark P. Friedlander, Jr. is the first book in the Innovators In Action! series. We received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are our own honest opinions.
Just as the title implies, the premise of the book is that da Vinci gets a do-over. Leonardo got a second chance to live in the year 2000 so that he can invent and actually get a chance to make one of his inventions. When he arrives back in his hometown of Florence he meets an American middle school class that has come to learn about the Renaissance.
The first thing that drew me to this book was that it had to do with Leonardo da Vinci. I find da Vinci do be a really fascinating person to learn about and wanted to introduce him more to my boys. This book has a lot of great educational information. It not only touches on Leonardo da Vinci but you’ll find information on many other subjects as well.
There is a link to the teacher’s guide on one of the first pages of the book. I highly recommend checking out this guide. It has a lot of great information. It’s packed with vocabulary, discussion questions, and hands-on activities. It even has a breakdown by chapter.
I think that this book would work well for a wide range of ages and would make a great homeschool unit study based on Leonardo da Vinci. I’m really interested in finding out what other innovators will be featured in this series.
