Where Connor and JT Go Art/Crafts/Activities/Learning Mickey & Minnie Valentines

Mickey & Minnie Valentines

Last month the boys and I were discussing ideas for Valentine cards. They wanted to make Mickey Valentines, Lion Guard Valentines, and Duffy the Disney Bear Valentines. We never got to all of that though. What we did instead was Minnie Valentines with hair bows and Mickeys with bow ties.

The idea started with cupcakes. We were going to be making strawberry cupcakes for Valentine’s with strawberries on top. Then I decided what if I cut the strawberries so that they look like bows and I can do Mickeys and Minnies. Well, that was much more difficult then I thought. Making a strawberry bow wasn’t difficult but they were just too big for the cupcakes and I was having problems drawing on a Mickey/Minnie head that could be seen under the bow. The Mickeys with bow ties were easier than the Minnies but I ended up just making a few and doing the rest with just a bow.

So, the cupcakes didn’t work out so well but we could use the same concept for Valentine cards. We used red and pink construction paper and I found circular objects that I could use to draw the Mickey/Minnie heads.

I overlapped the smaller cup on the bigger circle to make the ear.

I'm not sure if you can see it that well since the pencil is very light but you can see how the ear circles overlapped.

Once the heads were drawn I cut them out and also drew and cut out some hair bows and bow ties.

Then the boys glued on the bows and did some decorating and they were done.

They’re really simple and cute. They don’t have to be decorated. They look cute plain but my boys (especially Connor) like to draw on their Valentine’s cards so each one is always different.
