Last week we visited Denman Estate Park. We hadn’t been there before. Actually, we weren’t even aware of it before but we really liked it. We liked it so much that we decided to do a series of blog posts about cool San Antonio parks to visit.
Denman Estate Park is located close to the Medical Center and it’s kind of hidden. There is a nice little lake with lots of ducks, birds, fish, and turtles. The boys spent a lot of time hanging out by the lake and watching the animals.
On the other side of the lake there is a pavilion.
It’s the Pavilion of Gwangju. It was a gift from the city of Gwangju in South Korea to the people of San Antonio.
There is a trail back behind the pavilion that we took. It’s not very long but it’s a nice easy walk.
As we were arriving back at the lake we found this fun flock of fluffy geese. They were really fun to watch. They kept splashing and ducking under the water.
We watched them and some of the other ducks for awhile. We also met a lady that watches over them and she was telling us about some of them.
On the way out we found a meditation or prayer maze. I don’t remember what it was called exactly but we hadn’t seen it on the way in.
We really enjoyed this park. It has a nice and tranquil setting. There are several tables so you could have a picnic if you wanted. I’m really glad we were introduced to this park.
Here is the link with some information and the address for Denman Estate park.
Thanks for reading! I hope you enjoy this park as much as we did.
