Disney Social Media Moms On the Road- Austin- Part 1

Last month I attended the Disney Social Media Moms Celebration On the Road. The one I attended was in Austin at the Intercontinental Stephen F. Austin hotel. I am super excited that I was lucky enough to get invited. I really learned a lot and had a great time.

Registration started at 7:45 a.m. and I got there exactly at that time. As we arrived we received a lanyard with our names and a gift bag. Once we were checked in we were able to find a seat and get some breakfast. I didn’t get a picture of breakfast but they provided us with a really nice spread that included, pastries, croissants, eggs, potatoes, and more.

At 8:30 was when it actually started and we started off by doing some pin trading. I was given an Alice in Wonderland teapot pin. I walked around, met a few other bloggers, and ended up keeping the same pin. It’s cute though so that’s okay.

Once pin trading was over the conference was kicked off by Leanne J O’Regan and Jamie Langdon.

We watched some really fun Disney Side videos like the Pirates of Central Park and the character surprise at the mall.

We also watched an adorable Kids Remember Mashup video.

We also heard a bit about some of the changes going on at Disney World. One of these being the transformation of Downtown Disney into Disney Springs. Another change is the addition of the bungalows at the Polynesian.

We were also reminded of that this year is Disneyland’s 60th Anniversary. If you can’t get over to Disneyland for their Diamond Celebration you can still celebrate my creating a video at mydisneylandvideo.com.

After Jamie was done speaking it was time for us to hear from Jennifer Fickley-Baker. Jennifer talked to us about storytelling and creativity.

Jennifer told us a story about how light painting came about. It’s really cool. You can take a look at my picture below but for better pictures take a look here.

Jennifer also left us with a great quote:

“Pushing past logic is where creativity begins.”

She told us that listing is a great way to do this because when you first start making a list logic kicks in but once you get past logic that’s where creativity starts.

I’ve been wanting to get this done for weeks so I’m putting this up as part 1. Stay tuned for part 2.

Have a magical day everyone!
