Where Connor and JT Go Oklahoma,Oklahoma City Oklahoma State Capitol, Oklahoma City

Oklahoma State Capitol, Oklahoma City

Our second stop in Oklahoma City was the Capitol. We saw a sign that said we should park and go in through the tunnel so that is what we did. As we entered the tunnel we were welcomed to Oklahoma by the wall.

Since I’m talking about being welcomed to Oklahoma, I think that this is a good place to put the picture from the Oklahoma Welcome Center.

At the beginning of the tunnel there was a bit of water, it had rained a lot at night, and Connor was concerned that it would rain again and the tunnel would get flooded and we would be stuck. The security guard on our way out actually asked us if there was water and I told him a little bit and he said that it does flood down there but it only gets up to your ankles.

Once we were in the Capitol we picked up a visitor’s guide which starts you on the 5th floor so that is where we started. I think that the first thing we went to was the House of Representatives Chamber.

Then was the Senate Chamber.

For the most part those are really the only pictures I took other then the dome and around the Rotunda.

On both this picture and then next, the paintings on top depict Oklahoma at different time periods and the bottom portraits are famous Oklahomians.

The vistor’s guide was really detailed and had a lot of information. I really liked how well done it was. I didn’t read all of it as we were going through but at the least I read painting names and any other little interesting facts. We also didn’t finish going through the whole tour because the boys were hungry, we stopped at the second floor and went outside to take a few pictures there real quick and then we left to eat.

So, that was the Capitol and I enjoyed it. Like I said above, the visitor’s guide is really well done and has plently of information that helps you to have a good tour on your own. They also do conduct guided tours though. I believe the guided tours are done on the hour.

Next I will be moving on to the Oklahoma History Center.
